Reaction to “Imagine”

I stand so humbled before God who is clearly busy working on a much bigger scale in our country than just your or my life. And still He has such grace to involve us in His plans. The reaction I’ve received to “Imagine” blows me away and confirms this in such a big way.

After posting the song, more than one friend/ acquaintance has confirmed that they feel a heavy burden to pray for our country. We’ve started a prayer group at my kids’ pre-primary school and every time we meet I feel like God is confirming anew His heart for our area and South Africa as a whole.

An acquaintance of mine from my University congregation sent me an e-mail to say that God has been showing her to pray for spiritual rain for our land. He has given her a verse, Hosea 6:3, that just confirms this more:

The week my single came out, the “Pinkster week” theme of a NG church in Lynwood, Pretoria was “Imagine”. The theme was all about imagining how God can use one small thing we do for big things in His Kingdom and our country.

After a recent youth gathering in Pretoria at the Union buildings, one of the pastors who attended, Eugene Coetzee from Every Nation, said the following:
“We are seeing a new generation rising up who are taking a stand for God. A Generation who is taking hands across all borders, races, cultures and denominations, a generation who believes that change is possible.”

In a weekly newsletter from a Christian pastor and author from the West Coast, Jan Oosthuizen, the same theme was once again echoed.

I’m so thankful for the support of radio stations like RSG, Radio Namakwaland, Radio Tygerberg and Impact Radio for playing the song and airing interviews about the song’s message.

But perhaps the most significant confirmation for me was the Worship Central conference on 13 June where Tich Smith shared about the amazing work God has done in Liv Village in KZN. He said in his talk that God’s plan for our country is to work through the church to change people’s lives and hear His heartbeat for the widow and the orphan. After Tich’s talk there was an amazing ministry/ worship moment where all attended was invited to pray together for God to open our eyes to see what He is doing around us and how He wants us to get involved. God was breaking hearts for what breaks His. He was and is inviting us all to imagine with Him, imagine a country healed, imagine a country where people know His love.

Let us continue to pray with passion for God’s dream for our country to unfold more and more every day. For people living in despair to hope again.
